How important is your online presence in a changing world?

If you are in the catering / shop front business then having a web site will be very important to you in gaining more visibility, and attracting trade / members of the public - who like your brand or are visiting you for the first time.

Today more and more people are tuning in to the internet and using the Google search engine to look for what they want, whether it is food, literature or information. Google has become known as the place where you can find what you want, and some people refer to Google as God, and whilst I don't agree with this theory, I nevertheless consider the ranking on Google to be very important for my business.

If I were to look up your business what keywords would you want to be identified by? For example if you were a restaurant you might like to be found by the kind of food you serve and the town that you are in. If you were a hotel you might like to be found under place and star, and perhaps if you had a nightclub you may like to be found under dancing, town and party - Can you be found?

What's your ranking on what can you do to get it better?

Google ranking can be seen on Alexa, and Google is ranked 5 and Yahoo 1. The lower your ranking the higher is your visibility. To achieve a higher ranking for your site, you need to draw attention to your business through either Google Ad Words, blogging or web optimization.

Get feedback from your customers and use it to your advantage

Adding a feedback form to your website will allow satisfied clients to write about what you do best, and unsatisfied customers the opportunity to complain. You can edit the complaints, and go back to the customers and try to address their concerns and get it better.

Google can help you increase your business, if you learn how to use it to your advantage, but Google will never become God because it can be controlled by you.
