The week before last, I stayed in the Kingsley Hotel in Bournemouth. I found the hotel by looking on google, and actually it was my second choice. The first hotel that I found was about double the price, and then I had another look, and was struck that the Kingsley hotel was non-smoking - rang them and booked a room for two nights. I rang them a day later and asked if there was a radiator in the room, and was told yes and even a bathroom.

I drove down late on Monday and arrived at 9pm. I had slight difficulty in locating the hotel; the AA route planner was slightly confusing. I felt a bit nervous, thinking had I made the right choice - why hadn't I chosen a 4 star hotel, I wondered. I phoned a friend Rob Barnes who reassured me that the hotel was good, and very near the Bournemouth International Centre where the Hotel and Catering Show was to be held the next day.

I parked outside the hotel and wondered if the gear for the stand in the back would be safe? I was reassured later that it would be, and I had no problems throughout my stay.

Entering the hotel, the proprietor, Sue Baker welcomed me and took me up to see the room first - her gesture was comforting, and put my mind at ease. The room consisted of a large double bed, a single bed and a bathroom ensuite. It was a beautiful room, warm and inviting with a tea-making facility, and there was even a television with dvd. I couldn't believe the price of £24 a night so cheap!

I stayed two nights in the hotel and found the breakfast of particular value - full English breakfast!

Sue Baker explained that she and her husband, Alan Baker, had bought the hotel recently, and had redecorated it. They had moved to the area from Kent. Such nice people with warmth, exercising real hospitality. Sue caters for guests, visitors to the Bournemouth International Centre, and to Boscombe and Bournemouth, and students who are studying at Bournemouth University.

I would like to recommend the Kingsley hotel as being "fit for a king"!
